I think I'll listen to a sample before buying next time. Mario Puzo can write a good story even if the editing and accents were distracting You didn’t love this book-but did it have any redeeming qualities? In the hands of Mario Puzos brilliantly sinister talent, the reader comes to know again the terrible magic of the Mafia. I suspect the other actors could probably also have done better under different circumstances (did they have to record their own parts at home and send them in?) I believe for another kind of book he'd actually be good, but for this, it just didn't work. The narrator spoke too quickly and it didn't seem to match the pace of the story. How did the narrator detract from the book? The Priest - if an Italian Mickey Mouse Balloon Priest could talk, this is how I think he'd sound. There's no flow - the characters sound out of context. The different characters sound like they were recorded on an old tape recorder in various locations by gangster impressionists, then badly edited in some time later. By contrast, The Sicilian sounds like a Dragnet spoof where some wiseguy speaks quickly out of the side of his mouth but without getting to the punchline. The Godfather was a great book and the narration by Joe Montegna was also great. Would you try another book written by Mario Puzo or narrated by the narrators? Sounds like Family Guy does The Godfather
